Research has shown that a firefighter’s likelihood of developing cancer is significantly higher than the average person. This significantly higher rate of cancer development is likely contributed to by the dermal absorption of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), organophosphate flame retardants (OPFR), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and some metals which include Lead and Cadmium, all of which are known carcinogens.
